The rules of the descent
Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Friedemann Lipphardt ("we", "us"), the maker of Krawl, for your use of the game. By downloading or playing Krawl, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't play.
1. Your licence to play
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play Krawl on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, rent, or redistribute the game or its content except where the law expressly allows it.
2. Your account
Krawl works anonymously by default. You may optionally link a platform account to back up your progress. You're responsible for activity that happens through your device and any linked account. Keep your device and credentials secure.
3. Purchases, virtual items, and currency
- Krawl offers optional in-app purchases. All purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms.
- Krawl includes virtual currencies (such as gems and gold) and virtual items (such as gear, runes, heroes, skins, and chests). These have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are licensed to you — not owned by you — for use within the game.
- Virtual items and currency are generally non-refundable once delivered, except where a refund is required by law or granted by the relevant app store. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google, not by us.
- We may add, change, remove, or re-price items and currency, and may expire or discontinue them, at our discretion.
4. Randomized items (loot boxes)
Krawl includes one purchasable item with a randomized result — the Epic Loot Chest. The rarity you receive from it is guaranteed; only the specific item is random. The full, disclosed probabilities are published on our Loot Box Odds page. Please review it before purchasing. By buying a randomized item you acknowledge that the specific reward is determined by chance within the disclosed parameters.
5. Seasons and progress resets
Krawl runs on 28-day competitive seasons. At the end of each season, your seasonal progress — current run, skill-tree allocation, gear, runes, and gold — is reset for everyone, and the ladder starts again. Your permanent progress — purchased cosmetics, ad-removal, codex and lore unlocks, achievements, and your all-time best depth — is preserved across seasons. By playing, you understand and accept that seasonal progress, including items obtained during a season, is periodically reset as part of the game's design.
6. Fair play
Don't cheat. You agree not to use unauthorized third-party software, bots, exploits, or modifications; not to manipulate leaderboards; not to buy, sell, or trade accounts or virtual items for real money outside the app stores; and not to interfere with the game's operation or other players. We may suspend or terminate access, and remove ill-gotten progress or items, for conduct that breaks these rules.
7. Social features
Krawl includes light social features — friends and guilds — with no messaging or chat of any kind. You may add, remove, and block other players. Use these features respectfully and lawfully.
8. Advertising
The free version of Krawl is supported by advertising. You can remove ads with a one-time purchase. Advertisements are provided by third parties and are subject to our Privacy Policy; we are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or any site or product they link to.
9. Updates and availability
We may update, change, or discontinue Krawl or any of its features at any time, and we may need to take the game or its online services offline for maintenance. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Some features require an internet connection.
10. Disclaimers
Krawl is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of Krawl. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for Krawl in the twelve months before the claim.
12. Termination
You may stop playing and delete Krawl at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the game. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as purchases already made, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live, disputes will be resolved by the courts of Japan. Nothing here removes protections you're entitled to as a consumer under the laws of your home country or the app store you purchased through.
14. App store terms
Your use of Krawl is also subject to the terms of the app store you downloaded it from. Where those store terms require specific provisions (for example, that the store is not responsible for the app and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms), those provisions apply.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Krawl evolves. When we make material changes we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-game. Continuing to play after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
